The Clock of Vipassana Has Struck
In a time of increasingly complex global crises, Sayagyi U Ba Khin`s life demonstrates a simple, powerful truth - that an individual of pure mind experts a positive, corrective influence on society.
The clock of Vipassana has now struck. We have no doubt whatsoever about definite results accruing to those who would with open minds sincerely undergo a course of training under a competent teacher - I mean results which will be accepted as good, concrete, vivid, personal, here and now; results which will keep them in good stead and in a state of well-being and happiness for the rest of their lives.
One of the outstanding figures of his time, U Ba Khin`s accomplishments in two usually incompatible fields were singular. He was a master teacher of meditation as well as a goverment official of tireless devotion and impeccable conduct. His service to the country of Myanmar (formerly Burma) was noteworthy, but his example to the citizens of the world is not less remarkable.
This volume celebrates U Ba Khin`s exemplary life which combined unwavering dedication to Dhamma (the truth, the teaching) with unwearied commitment to public service. Its publication marks the 100th anniversary of his birth. It contains a collection of his writings and discourses, a biographical sketch of his life and of the lives of the teachers who preceded him, and is woven together with an extensive interview with his reknowned disciple, S.N. Goenka.
